Dear Colombian Timber friends, partners and allies,
Let us kick off this year’s newsletters by sharing very positive news about the progress of the development of our ports, and tell you that the different studies have just initiated towards the procurement of the several required licenses and the subsequent search of a strategic investor to build them.
As a remainder, for those of you not fully aware yet of where we stand, we’ll be developing two different ports, from where we plan to export our biomass:
- A smaller one right in the Meta River that will be used by those plantations located in between this river and the Bita River, which comprises around 20% of the product to be shipped as from late 2021.
- A bigger, most important one right in the Orinoco River that will be used by those plantations located to the south of the Bita River, and which comprises around 80% of the product. The land in which this port will be built was bought by Gutierrez Group in 2018, in what was an immense effort to secure a very promising property needed not only for the benefit of our Colombian Timber project but also for that of the entire forestry industry in this region of the country.
