Greetings to all dear Colombian Timber investors.
As you all know, the purpose of this project is to profit from the development of an industry that, globally speaking, has always presented steady growth and furthermore gained special relevance over the last few years, but that is just starting to develop on a local basis. Through Colombian Timber we are planting Acacia and Eucalyptus in the Colombian Province of Vichada with the intention of selling the harvested wood either internationally or locally, the ideal scenario being to sell processed chips of wood to a power plant that is scheduled to be built in the region within the next years. While our trees grow we rely on obtaining prompter returns by intercropping with apiculture plantations (a decision to be taken in the third year), and/or by selling certified Carbon Credits (available to sell in five years).
With more than 9,000 hectares already planted in the region, Colombian Timber´s plantation is a great addition to this grand mission. Let us reiterate that Colombian Timber´s plot of land extends over a staggering 1.218 hectares, 854 of which are plantable, that being 70% of the land. The rest of the land needs to be utilized for technical reasons such as retreats from rivers and firewalls throughout the plantation.
When we thought about how to make such a naturally large investment available to international investors seeking to pursue it by placing smaller portions of funds, we realized that a crowdfunding structure would be the way to go. After only 6 months, with a total success in sales and no more units available for phase 1 of the project, are approach has proven correct. So correct that we are proud to convey the following novelty to you all: our team of experts is already scanning available land to structure Colombian Timber 2, a new project that is now available for all investors this year.
Do not forget that we are all investing in a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable project and by so contributing to create more than 250 direct jobs in the region, constructing over 20 houses for our forest keepers and supporting the means of life of approximately 1.500 people. Apart from the money, we know you all feel like we do about such wonderful entreprise.
This is just the beginning, many good news about our project, the country and the industry will follow for years. Thank you for being part of this journey. As co-investors, we could not be happier to have such a terrific group of people to enjoy this ride with.
Now, without further ado, we would like to share with you the 2016 activities report from our forestry operator: InverBosques.
Please note that the full report shows the progress of the different plots of land under management by the operator and not just the piece of land owned by Colombian Timber. However, at the end of the report (page 63 onwards), you will find a summary of the activities performed in our land accompanied with several pictures of it.
We hope the report is of your liking and, needless to say, please do not hesitate to send all your questions, comments and suggestions to the project´s management at felipegutierrez@gutierrezgroup.com.co.
