Dear Colombian Timber friends,
This week we’d like to inform you all about the latest news regarding the Bita River, and the fact that it was very recently declared as a Ramsar Wetland (the 11th in the country).
The Bita River is one of the rivers with the most biodiversity in Colombia, and its conservation is a matter of national and international concern.
Our Colombian Timber lands are all located in the area of influence of the Bita River, as we’re located just a few hundred meters south of the river. The check the satellite location of our CT lands click here.
Being located in this area of influence simply means that we’ll need to follow the corresponding guidelines so as to keep managing our plantations in a sustainable way, which is something we’re already very familiarized with given that we are in the process of obtaining the FSC Certification.
